Led team of 70 accountants and a BPO office to execute all US GAAP accounting activities, ensuring SOX compliance for Americas, representing 50% of annual Merck revenue. Responsible for the FP&A and business analytics to support the shared service operations and acted as a primary contact with PwC/Internal audit.RESULTS Delivered $2.0M USD in savings, by setting up the shared services operations in Costa Rica.  Implemented free trade zone to align tax strategy, allowing export services tax-free. Created the bases to calculate and control transaction costs. Eliminated one day of the closing lead time, optimizing and automating accounting activities with a standard of delivery of closing activities within 3 working days.  Presented Senior leaders quarterly operational, forecast, budget variances and opportunities. Reduced bank reconciliation outstanding open items from 90 days to current.  Implemented monthly pre- and post-closing financial statements and reconciliation review.  Hired and developed my successor by providing coaching and establishing specific actions.
