Fine Group is a full-service provider of textile design, development and manufacturing solutions to cover, carry and protect equipment unique to customer requirements. Working with customers in the Industrial PPE (Health & Safety), Medical and Military industries typical products include kit bags, rucksacks, pouches and cases; slings, slide sheets, mattress covers and transfer aids; load vests and belts; equipment, aircraft and vehicle covers.As concept designer my key role was to conceptualise and present solutions to solve customer requirements and facilitate the production of samples through the factory:• Concept development from customer brief through to final sample sign off• Facilitate the systematic re-engineering of key products to improve manufacturing efficiency and increase profitability• Providing the New Business Development team with product concepts for presentation to new and existing customers• Lead NPI presentations to key customers to procure new business • Production of engineering drawings and specifications to support UK and Far East production• Creation of product specifications and user guides

Working for the in-house R&D Department my role and responsibilities were as follows:• Design and specification of own label product ranges for key customers including: John Lewis, Howdens Joinery, Travis Perkins and Leisure Rangemaster.• Design, development and project management of Abode brand products from initial conceptthrough to mass market manufacture.• Product lifecycle testing.• Market trend analysis to keep abreast of the latest technological innovations to ensure that theAbode brand continues to be pioneering with frequent visits to customers, suppliers, trade shows and conferences.• Point of sale design and creation of PR material such as trade press releases and advertisements.• Preparation and delivery of product knowledge training workshops for key customers.• Technical support to customer service team.• Creation of customer installation instructions and user guides.Design highlights of my time at Abode were receiving industry awards for 3 products I designed:Tydal - Ceramic kitchen sink - Ceramic kitchen innovation of the year award 2010, Designer Magazine.Verso - Contemporary kitchen mixer tap - Kitchen innovation award 2011, Designer Magazine.Triana - Water filter mixer tap - Product innovation award 2012, Designer Magazine

Blue Sky Designs Ltd is one of the fastest growing gift and stationery distributors in the UK. In addition to developing and selling their own products globally Blue Sky also invent toys for many of the worlds leading toy companies and work with most of the major retailers and distributors in over 20 countries worldwide.Role and responsibilities:• NPD; Idea and concept generation based on market research and communication through sketching and CAD visuals.• Packaging design for new product ranges.• Project management and liaising with suppliers in the Far East to discuss manufacturing issues and critical paths.• Coordinating consumer focused market research and product testing.• PR management, including a monthly mailer, promotional videos and product photography.
