About Daniel Billingsley

I am a very goal oriented person and enjoy being challenged. In the future I see myself either in a leadership or engineering position in a high paced and competitive atmosphere. I enjoy working with advanced systems and I am committed to staying up to date with new processes and technology.I finished my last semester at Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne for my Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology in June, 2013. Before working on my Bachelor's Degree I completed my Associate's Degree in Drafting and Design through Glen Oaks Community College. I spent two years participating in the Co-Op Program at General Motors Fort Wayne Assembly, in which I worked full-time during the day and attended classes at night while maintaining a GPA of 3.4 and was a member of Omicron Psi (National Honor Society). At GM I started out working for management focusing on technical maintenance and engineering in General Assembly. From there I transferred to the Body Shop where I worked in the welding and dimensional engineering groups. The Co-Op program was very beneficial and I am very grateful for the opportunity to learn from some of the best professionals in the industry. After finishing the Co-Op program I was offered a full-time position as a Manufacturing Engineer in the Process & Tech Support group. I worked in the Process & Tech Support group for about a year until I was promoted to the Alignment Coordinator. As the alignment coordinator I was responsible for the alignment of every vehicle produced and worked with our quality/engineering departments on maintaining and improving standardized work. From there I moved to the position of maintenance group leader. I lead a group of about 30 skilled trades employees. My primary responsibilities were installing and maintaining all equipment related to manufacturing of the vehicles in addition to meeting specific business goals and safety standards. Most recently I was promoted to the role of Vehicle Systems General Assembly Resident Manufacturing Engineer. My primary responsibilities include being the single point of contact between the plant and vehicle systems. Providing technical direction and program management oversight to suppliers, contactors and plant maintenance for new tooling and equipment installations. Supporting new vehicle launches at the plant including various shifts and long hours during construction/launch events. Assisting VS-ME group with driving error proofing features into product design. Working with CMEs to provide input on build strategy for future product.
