International Student Military Officer (Imso)
CurrentManages the administrative and in and out-processing procedures of International Military Students (IMS). Provides welcome packet and briefs IMS on a variety of administrative policies including leave, accountability and Informational Security. Reviews the Invitational Travel Order (ITO) for allowances and accurate training data and living allowances. Provides pre-departure briefing and prepares graduation certificates. Ensures international flags are properly displayed during graduation ceremonies. Assists in planning, developing, and conducting the DoD Field Studies Program (FSP) in order to give the IMS a balanced understanding of American society, institutions, judicial systems, political parties, press and media, diversity of American life, roles of women and minorities, agriculture, public and social welfare, and human rights. Selects, coordinates, and conducts local educational field trips for groups up to 25 IMS. Serves as tour escort or host/hostess for approved activities including through out the Tampa community. Coordinates the IMS Sponsorship Program. Performs a variety of administrative services and coordinates and conducts special projects. Monitors the workflow and formulates recommendations and solutions for improvements to increase timely, efficient and effective mission accomplishment. Serves as transportation coordinator for the organization. Receives telephone calls and greets general officers, international dignitaries, and senior DOD civilians. Coordinates all IMS activities with U.S. Embassy's around the globe.
