I am currently teaching Earth and Space Science to high school freshman (mostly). We will be looking at what the earths place in the universe is to what resources it has and uses to human impacts and everything in between. My work at UNH focuses on how aquatic ecosystem biogeochemistry is affected by changing climate regimes and urbanization at a global level. Changes in stream health lead to decreased ecosystem services (or how streams better human life, free of charge), increases in costs to maintain their health, and loss of critical pristine stream habitats. I work with in situ stream sensor arrays, grab samples, and raw data to see a bigger picture of how our streams are functioning when it comes to processes such as metabolism, denitrification, and nitrate assimilation. Together with the Water Systems Analysis Group (WSAG) and the Institute for the Study of Earth, Ocean, and Space (EOS) at UNH I am working on completing my masters degree by researching, designing, and completing my dissertation project with novel and important information.
