Project Coordinator

London, United Kingdom

East London Business Alliance (ELBA) facilitates corporate volunteering within the local community. I was the Project Coordinator for the Hackney team, one of the most deprived boroughs in the UK. I organised and coordinated volunteer placements within charities, community groups and schools that would benefit from the knowledge and experience of business volunteers. This could range from helping with business and marketing strategies, to running employability sessions, to taking part in practical team challenges (painting, gardening etc).My role involved a great deal of communication with large firms, small community groups and local primary schools, to broker volunteers into relevant and worthwhile activities, and it was essential that I maintained strong and effective relationships with all parties to ensure a high level of delivery.A key role of mine was to seek out viable volunteering opportunities within the borough of Hackney, meeting with recipients and working with them on finding out how they could benefit from corporate support and then matching them with the relevant groups or individuals. I facilitated workshops, with young people and adults, such as CV and interview practice sessions. I also worked on the development of workshop material and designed and facilitated a mentoring programme. I was responsible for monitoring and evaluation, ensuring all activity was recorded and then extracted to enable thorough reporting against targets.
