I co-manage a team of 11 specialists in the Division of Water Resources for the Water Quality Regional Operations Section. Our team investigates water quality complaints and environmental crimes, inspects facilities for NPDES wastewater and non-discharge wastewater permit compliance, and analyzes surface water and ground water parameters. I conduct training of inspectors, develop strategies for program improvement, manage resource use efficiency, and evaluate employee performance.

Duties included: 1. inspecting wastewater treatment plants, hydroelectric plants, and trout farms for compliance with NPDES permits 2. inspecting sewer collection systems for permit compliance 3. issues enforcements including civil penalties for permit violations 4. develop long term enforcement strategies to bring problem facilities into compliance 5. provide information to citizens, operators, engineers, and municipal staff about permit compliance and water quality regulations.

I worked as an operator at an activated sludge wastewater treatment plant. I earned the highest grade wastewater license while working at this facility. My duties included managing the plant alone on second shift, performing lab analysis on first shift, responding to alarms at the plant, investigating and monitoring plant operations, running a sieve drum concentrator, pumping sludge to and from clarifiers and digesters, and examining the microbiology of the activated sludge.
