Program Manager
CurrentWorking with the Environmental Finance Center at Wichita State University, I primarily work with small & rural communities to help them effectively manage their utilities. I’ve used my previous experience in Pretreatment, wastewater, regulations, as well as supervision to assist utility representatives, community members, elected board officials, and city administrators to ensure efficient and effective administration of their utilities. I’m currently coupling my professional experience with personal passion for the environment to collaborate with team members and local leaders on food insecurity & litter studies with hopes to do more work in helping American cities adopt clean energy and green infrastructure. I’m also using my previous education and personal interest to help raise awareness about the cybersecurity risks posed to utilities and their operational technology.
Environmental Sciences Administrator
As the Environmental Sciences Administrator I am tasked with overseeing the IPP & FOG Program as well as the WWTF Laboratory. I oversee permit reviews, enforcement actions, IU inspections and reports. Additionally, I make executive decisions about how to proceed with FOG enforcement actions and variance applications. I am helping to spearhead a lab management integration system to assist in communication between our lab department and facility operators. I will also be updating Wichita’s Enforcement Response Plan and Ordinance, and will work with my team to update program forms and documents to ensure an efficient workflow.
Industrial Pretreatment Coordinator
Continuing my employment with the City of Greeley, I've continued to take on increasing levels of responsibility. I currently oversee many aspects of the pretreatment program including self monitoring, compliance monitoring, & inspections. I now also have an increased role in determining local limits, load allocations, & other administrative duties associated with the program.
Industrial Pretreatment Specialist
Working with the City of Greeley’s Water Pollution Control Facility, I was tasked with reviewing local ordinances, federal regulations, and applicable permits to determine compliance to water quality standards. I monitored industries through sampling, lead industry inspections, issued permits, created forms for our program including our One-Time Compliance certification sheet for our Dental Users. I aided in compiling our annual report, updating our industrial waste survey, as well as our Dental User spreadsheet.
Media & Communications
I acted as the Media & Communications executive member for this non-profit organization. My main responsibilities were upkeep of the organization’s website (cipca.wildapricot.org) and its Facebook page. I also aided in member registration, event planning, and mass communications to our members.
Natural Resources Specialist
While contracted with the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality (TCEQ), I worked in the Water Quality division in Pretreatment (PT) as a PT Coordinator. In the PT division, I've attended an audit, conducted technical file reviews, confirmed publicly owned treatment works (POTW) and their associated industrial users (IUs) were in compliance with their state and local ordinances and applicable permits. I've also reviewed permit applications to ensure POTW applications were complete in regards to PT requirements, compiled IU lists, and corresponded with POTW representatives regarding their compliance. Additionally, I have undergone extensive training in the area of PT and become familiar with Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
Firearms Examiner
As a trainee in the firearm and toolmark unit, I had undergone extensive training that has laid a foundation of technical knowledge in the area of distance determination that included familiarizing myself with numerous research articles, writing reports, completing practical exercises, passing written examinations, and passing a competency test that consisted of both a practical and technical written component. I had been deemed competent in the analysis of gunshot residue for distance determination, was working supervised casework, and undergoing further training in the areas of firearms and ammunition components.
Research Associate - Manufacturing
After moving within the company to the manufacturing group, my responsibilities shifted. Using good manufacturing practices, I used previously established formula sheets to create a small batch of material to test for proper function, tested these batches through assays, analyzed data, and reformulated as necessary. Once mini-pool kits of reagents passed quality control, I batched large quantities of the material for use in testing customer samples and transacted all raw and manufactured products using an electronic interface.
Research Associate - Testing
I pulled samples from deep freezers according to a requisition sheet. I plated, diluted samples, and prepared reagents for automated machines. I was also responsible for running manual assays and using plate readers to collect data which was processed and reviewed later. Electronic processing of all goods was a large part of processing.
Laboratory Assistant
I performed duties as a phlebotomist and collected samples from hospital patients. I also worked as a specimen processor. All samples that entered the lab passed by me where I verified all samples were labeled correctly with all necessary information, distributed the samples to their respective locations, communicated with all areas of the hospital to coordinate sample collection, resulted out rapid-screening tests, and set up microbiological cultures.
