I have teaching experience in addressing a wide range of skills and abilities in my classroom as a 7th and 8th grade science teacher. Through research and practice I have found there are many successful ways to address students in a wide range of skills and abilities. I believe that scaffolding lessons with the “I do, We do,You do” teaching method is a successful way of addressing the needs of all learners. Modeling is a critical component to help students in mastery of skills. I also strongly believe in collaborative learning through grouping students. I use data to group students by similar strengths and weaknesses. I also group high students with lower level learners so that the high students can teach lower level learners. Having a student being able to teach a skill to another student is a key indicator of mastery. In my teaching now I have found that I have many students on a variety of lexile levels. I use resources to create centers with different lexile informational text articles related to science in order to challenge while avoiding reading frustration for my students. Differentiated instruction is a teaching resource I’ve used to address students with special needs. I’ve created accommodations and modifications in collaboration with our special education team to ensure the learning of all students.

I started as a life guard when I was 15, when I was 19 was promoted to Assistant manager, in which I have held thecurrent job title. In 2010 I joined the coaching staff. Managing the pool I have been in charge of all the life-guards,grounds and balancing the pool chemicals. While coaching I have taken care of children from the ages of 5 to 18. I amalso in charge of the youngest kids program that consists of children from the ages of 4-7 years old and instructing themhow to swim.
