I’m a software architect for Ethos Group responsible for designing scalable web based solutions with the Microsoft .NET framework for our automotive customers. In the 10 years since joining Ethos Group I have been responsible for managing a team that supported applications in the field, building software solutions independently, creating mobile apps, and now for architecting solutions and leading a team of developers implementing those solutions.My passion is building distributed software systems. Nothing is more thrilling than seeing independent software services work together to form a robust and scalable system. My favorite part of being an architect is analyzing business use cases to define the building blocks of an application and in turn defining how those blocks fulfill current and future use cases. I’m passionate about the Microservices approach to building software because it enables real business agility. The Azure Service Fabric is a platform I’m very interested in as it will allow all developers to take advantage of this robust architecture style. I’m also keen about working on brownfield to greenfield conversion projects. This situation presents unique challenges in carving out and replacing aspects of functionality while still enabling the business to function until the full conversion is completed.I have a BS in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas and I am a certified Microsoft Professional in C#. Recently, I’ve had the opportunity to attend trainings given by iDesign that have taken my software architecture skills to the next level. Software ArchitectEthos Group Jan 2015 - Present- Core Business Management System (Software Architect)Team: Product Owner, 3 - 5 Developers, QCThe core business is currently managed on a legacy desktop application. This project involves re-writing the core pieces of that application while maintaining data consistency between the old and the new.The new greenfield solution is an ASP .NET web application using AngularJS. The center of the project is a set of micro-services currently using WCF (based on guidance from iDesign) which will be migrated to the new Azure Service Fabric platform.My responsibilities include the architecture and detailed design of the new system and choosing which technologies to utilize. The product owner and I work closely to map business objectives to technical requirements. I also review all code submitted by the developers of this project for correctness, standards adherence, and test coverage. And I coordinate with quality control to properly test a release before deployment.

Software EngineerEthos Group Jan 2012 - Dec 2014- Employee Compliance And Training System (Sole Developer)The company was using an existing legacy system purchased from an outside vendor. The project was to bring the features of that system into the existing ASP .NET Web portal and assist with data migration where possible. The system managed company employees allowing the appropriate information and training to be assigned by job title. It had a robust testing system with multiple question types and reports that were available on demand and distributed by e-mail. - eSignature Mobile App (Sole Developer)This project was part of the company's initiative to consume less paper. The first part of the project was developing an iOS application that received documents prepared by the company’s ASP .NET web portal. Once the iOS app received the documents the customer would sign the documents in the app and their signature would be transmitted back to the web portal.The second part was a web service that communicated between the company's ASP .NET Web portal and the iOS app. It managed which devices were currently in use and sent instructions to the mobile device or web app based on the situation.

Software EngineerEthos Group May 2008 - Jan 2012- Digital File Storage and Scanning System (Sole Developer)The goal of this project was to create an application that could control a desktop scanner installed on a computer via the company's web portal and upload the scanned images to Amazon S3.The main user interface was the company’s ASP .NET Web portal that allowed a customer to initiate a scan. After the request to scan was made the web app sent the request via a duplex communication service to the WinForm client installed on a desktop machine. The desktop application would scan the document, transmit it to the Amazon S3 for storage, and respond to the web portal the scan had finished.- 3rd Party Data Translation System (Sole Developer)Team: Sole DeveloperThe company consumes a lot of data from multiple outside vendors. This project allowed data from different sources to be mapped to a consistent representation that was used for reporting. Data fields could be directly mapped or use formulas to aggregate multiple raw data values together.Within the company's main ASP .NET Web Application an area was added to allow non-developers to setup mappings for all clients. To handle data requests and processing of the data a Windows Service was created and utilized a duplex communication service for receiving requests.- Duplex Communication System (Sole Developer)This system was created using WCF and the netTcpBinding which provides duplex communication. It currently handles over 500 software clients that belong to several different software applications. The direct benefit of this project was allowing a web application to initiate communicate with software installed on client desktop computers.
