About Daniel Brown
I have been a journalist for English and French media for over 30 years. Since 1987, I have been based in Paris from where I report on international current affairs, global economics, French politics, African society, sports, and "world music". Between 1991-2013, I produced and reported for Radio France Internationale's weekly programmes covering the above topics. This meant travelling the world, with a particular focus on the African continent (reporting assignments in a total of 38 countries there). In 2013, I decided to move on and worked as a freelancer for media outlets ranging from the BBC World Service to NBC's The History Channel, via Songlines Magazine and Questions Internationales. In 2016, I accepted an offer as Senior Editorial reporter for HEC Paris, one of Europe's most prestigious business schools. My reports range from HEC collaborations with Muhammad Yunus, Christine Lagarde and Rob Hopkins, to projects promoting young women entrepreneurs from Paris' impoverished neighborhoods and research on contested markets. In 2020, I began Breakthroughs, a monthly podcast on the impact and diversity of HEC research. These are soon to be filmed.During my holiday breaks, I ran workshops for journalists in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as maintaining my journalistic activities for Songlines.Earlier in my career I was responsible for the creation of the Music Desk at the International Slavery Museum in Liverpool. I spent two years as a fulltime reporter for Euronews TV and four years running the English website Mondomix. I have experience in all forms of media.Strengths: radio production, In-depth interviews, on-the-ground investigative reporting, managerial skills in the newsroom, , editing, film-making. Leading media workshops on radio skills.
