Daniel Brunel was born in Caveirac, France, in 1943. He received his PhD in Organic Chemistry in 1970 at the University of Montpellier (Fr), and in 1978 was awarded a Doctorat ès Sciences” on perfluorinated superacid media prepared in part at Elf Research Center in Solaize (Fr). As researcher at CNRS since 1983, he joined the Laboratory of Catalytic Materials and Catalysis in Organic Chemistry at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier in 1987, where he became co-leader of the “Organized interfaces, hybrids and biofunctionalities” team and then the director of research at the CNRS in 2000 at the Charles Gerhardt Institute directed by Dr François Fajula. In 2009, being retired, he was kindly invited by Pr.Avelino Corma to join the ITQ Institute at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (Spain) for two years. In october 2016, he was nominated as Associated Professor at the European Mediterranean University of Fes (Marocco) He is a co-author of 120 scientific articles and reviews, 4 book chapters and 8 patents.
