Environmental Scientist
CurrentAs an Environmental Scientist as Dewberry, my primary job responsibilities include leading and assisting projects relating to environmental consulting with a number of fields such as transportation, site-civil development, energy transportation, solar, and more. A primary responsibility in this role is to serve as a field lead conducting stream and wetland delineations, stream and wetland habitat assessments, vegetation monitoring, and species surveys. I write technical reports detailing the findings of field studies, and utilize various mapping software (such as ArcGIS, Auto CAD, and Microstation) to create maps depicting project specific data. I prepare permit applications regarding the Clean Water Act and the National Environmental Protection Act, as well as various state and local ordinances. I conduct Threatened and Endangered Species and Cultural Resources reviews, coordinating with federal and state agencies to ensure that project impacts to sensitive resources are minimal. I advise clients on ways to minimize impacts, environmental mitigation, and environmental restoration/preservation possibilities on projects. Conduct pre, on-going, and post construction monitoring of projects to ensure that impacts stay within permitted areas. In addition, I help create and track budgets, manage tasks related to environmental efforts, and mentor lower level staff to ensure they are growing within the company and as a professional.
