Daniel Burget is a Director in the BDO Advisory Forensic Investigation and Litigation Services practice. Daniel has extensive financial fraud knowledge, experience, and expertise gained over a 26 year career in federal law enforcement where he served as a Special Agent with the Criminal Investigation division of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS-CI). Daniel has conducted and led numerous complex financial investigations involving tax fraud, money laundering, investment fraud, Bank Secrecy Act violations, terrorism financing, and related financial crimes. He has particular expertise in digital forensics in cyber and financial crimes from leading IRS-CI’s Electronic Crimes Program. This included leading the development and implementation of new processes and technology solutions to identify and document evidence of activities conducted within organizations that are in violation of criminal and civil law as well as regulatory requirements. He also led the validation of data analytics and technology solutions used to monitor potentially suspicious and fraudulent financial activities.Daniel served as a Computer Investigative Specialist and as an expert witness in numerous criminal trials before becoming a senior leader, overseeing the digital evidence aspects of all investigations in IRS-CI.
