I am an experienced IT Security and Infrastructure Manager with over a decade’s experience in the IT industry, specialising in Microsoft applications. Advise and balance security risks against the other needs of the business and support IT colleagues in the removal and management of risks Attend SOT meetings and other internal and external IT security meetings as required.

I have a solid background in systems development across a number of in-house projects that required custom built software to serve accommodation services for large scale global sporting events. High reliance on SQL, Javascript, JQuery and Asp/ASP.net/C# as projects progressed.Complementary to my role within IT services and system development, I also worked within the event management team in front of house, on-site, positions, which lead to the subsequent improvement of the multi user system with many quality of life system improvements, as my on-the-ground role gave me the same user vision of the teams that rely on the systems that I developed The global nature of sporting events for which we were contracted was wide and I enjoyed the experience of working cross-culturally and still have many long standing friendships from my event times.

I am advising a newly founded group of Spanish individuals who are trying to help provide safe, vetted, temporary shelter to the refugees fleeing the current war in Ukraine. I am advising on best practice for data access and accountability. As this is a time critical project, I advise a 'best effort first' approach, rather than aiming for a perfect system. I also advise on how to harness safe methods of communication, and highlight the potential dangers associated with more commonly used methods of communication as the scale of the operation grows. I am also acting as a 'honeypot' since my personal contact data was leaked by other well-meaning groups who unfortunately had not set up fundamental security or important data protection first steps. I am replying to all UKR requests for help, that are sent directly to me, with a standard agreed message to redirect them to our Organisation´s support network. I also then attempt to find which site had leaked my data without consent or vetting that I am a suitable host.We believe that the only way to ensure safety is to check both hosts, and those seeking shelter. We also believe in strong trackable accountability of our actions and decisions. In times like this we need to remember that no one should blindly trust a random stranger who´s information has been publicly exposed on the internet no matter how well intentioned that person´s offer is. Aside from my efforts on the cyber security and administrative front, I felt compelled to offer my home to a Ukrainian couple who were stuck here in Valencia, no longer able to return home; they have been staying with me since 11 Mar 2022. It was important to prepare for their arrival by doing some reading around the topic of hosting and I am glad that I read some very good advice from a source in the Czech Republic regarding the difference between expectation and realities.
