My role with the OPG as a Senior Guardian involves undertaking complex substituted decision making under supervision for adults with impaired capacity where the Public Guardian is appointed as guardian or attorney for personal/health matters, or acts as statutory health attorney of last resort. I maintain positive relationships with people with impaired capacity, their families, service providers, advocates, government agencies and other interested stakeholders of guardianship clients, closely liaise with the registry of the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal, and appeared before the Tribunal as required. I advocate for the best interests of my clients, and work to make supported decisions for all clients.

The Principal Guardian role conducts complex and sensitive substituted personal and health care decision-making for adults with impaired capacity where the Public Guardian acts as appointed guardian or attorney, or as statutory health attorney of last resort, and to make representations on their behalf. I provide advice to the Regional Manager on complex and sensitive guardianship issues and undertake substituted decision-making in complex/conflicted situations, for adults with impaired capacity where the Public Guardian is appointed as a guardian or personal attorney of last resort, or acts as statutory health attorney of last resort. I also provide mentoring to other staff members and act as a subject matter expert.

I worked as a team leader on two occasions within the Public Guardian; from January 2019 - February 2019, and August 2020 - October 2020.The position of Team Leader of Guardianship involves leading and supervising a team of guardians within the Office of the Public Guardian. The Team Leader is required to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to improve the quality of service delivery to clients and effectively promote the work of the Office of the Public Guardian. I was required to lead and supervise a team of guardians and provide mentoring and advice on the exercise of substituted decision-making, to ensure that the team delivers a timely and responsive service to people under guardianship orders and other key stakeholders. I was also required to collaborate with the Regional Manager to develop and implement effective processes to monitor and report on guardianship matters and trends.

My role as an administration officer with the Office of the Public Guardian included: proactively responding to advocacy enquiries received via a range of channels including: phone, email, SMS and social media. I provided support to children, including the provision of timely and accurate information and assistance. I undertook referrals within the Office of the Public Guardian and to appropriate agencies and maintained effective communication when dealing with clients in complex and emotive situations.

My role as a Regulatory Analyst involved assessing proposals for new gaming schemes, concepts and products for introduction to Queensland. I conducted research into proposed gaming schemes or products, including undertaking analysis on aspects of policy, revenue, harm minimisation and integrity. I assessed amendments to gaming legislation, operator agreements and corporate documentation, and I prepared advice and recommendations for the Minister and the Chief Executive, including drafting of written briefing notes, operational policy documents, and Ministerial correspondence.

Canada Olympic Park, Calgary

My position as an OSA at Winsport included providing information, assistance and direction to onsite guests and to guests arriving at Canada Olympic Park, directing traffic and provide parking access and assistance in designated areas, provide crowd and access control at various and predetermined locations during special events. I was also required to identify park wide safety concerns. Rectify these items or reports them to appropriate personnel, assist Patrol, Security and other departments with various jobs and assist with the set up and take down of equipment for functions and special events. I was always required to demonstrate a safe work practice at all times by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures and ensuring one's own safety is preserved along with the safety of co-workers and WinSport guests. I was also required to always be mindful of all safety hazards/concerns within the work environment and ensure all safety issues are reported to the appropriate individuals, and to review all EH & S notices/meeting minutes as they are distrusted or posted on EH & S boards located within each department.

Policelink

At Policelink, I have worked off-site, providing support and supervision for operational Police at major events including New Years Eve and Australia Day. I have also completed course work related to the Training and Development Officer Succession Plan. I have undertaken several online and face to face training packages, including mentoring and Crime Stoppers/Intel report writing, Criminal Intelligence training course and Ethics Training course. I have spent some time working with district intel offices, and I have also worked as a systems tester when upgrades were completed. I work as part of an Electronic Contact team that serves to respond to all electronic contact with the QPS including email, SMS, fax and online reporting. This requires excellent written and communication skills.

My role at Telstra included fielding both inbound and outbound calls during the day, upskilling in questioning techniques, listening with understand and conflict resolution, excellent customer service and presentation and KPI’s that need to be met daily, including average handling time, adherence, conformance and general Grade of Service.
