Designed hardware to aid in the understanding of the process design limits.Aerospike Vehicle - One of several engineers who as a team investigated the benefits of applying an aerospike engine to a launch vehicle. The team utilized a Saturn V vehicle and replaced the existing engines with aerospikes to determine if there were overall benefits. Responsible for modeling the engines and stages. Propulsion Module - Design of a propulsion module that incorporated 5 SSME's. To be used a the basis for the Space Launch System. Later modified to a single engine with all the subsystems incorporated into the engine module.Solar Power - Initial design of a solar receiver for ESKOM of South Africa. layout of all receiver panels and conceptual design of the structure including methods for attaching the panels. Lead design engineer for the design of a solar power plant with Solar Reserve. Led a team that created the initial layout of a receiver, tower, and all ancillary systems.

Performed trade studies to define the system concept and provided direction for resolving design issues.Pad Abort Demonstrator - Lead design engineer responsible for the layout of a propulsion module to launch a Lockheed-Martin crew capsule for launch recovery techniques. Activities included sizing of all major components including propellant tanks, pressurant bottles, and all propellant and pressurant lines. Created the propulsion module layout including the support structure and mounting of all components. Tracked the weight of all components. Coordinated efforts with Lockheed-Martin to integrate the module with the crew capsule.Advanced Programs - Developed parametric CAD models for thrust chambers, nozzles and turbopumps. The models allow creation of CAD models based on user inputs and provide a first cut at how components may look. Allows more time to be spent of performing trades rather than creating component models.
