About Daniel Carrillo

In my 15+ years working with unions and non-profits across the US and Mexico, I have leveraged my expertise in human rights, immigration, criminal justice, and worker rights to guide union leadership and make significant improvements in workplace reforms. As an accomplished public speaker, recruiter, and advocate for labor, I am well-versed in strategic campaigning, organizational management, program development, work force mobilization, fundraising and storytelling. The industries and causes I have influenced include the criminal justice system, manufacturing, health care, education, and the environment. SAMPLE OF MY WORK✦ LIVING WAGE VICTORY: Increased wages by $4 for service workers within University of California system, making a huge impact in economic justice and stability for members, and setting the stage for wage increases in other sectors of the state.✦ COMMUNITY IMPACT: Spearheaded union campaign with Seafood Workers in Mexico, winning union recognition for maquiladora workers as well as environmental protections and standards. This effort improved working and living conditions for community as maquiladora took on responsibility for care of their local environment. ✦ INTERNATIONAL LABOR: Won union contract and salary increases for 35K Mexican workers against transnational corporation based in India. Victory sent clear message to future transnationals interested in doing business in Mexico. ✦ PRISON DIVESTMENT: Launched campaign targeting corporations running private prisons and private immigrant detention centers.
