My professional experience centres around finance in the real estate, construction, events, media and energy industries.I use my broad range of Board-level experience across multiple industries to improve bottom-line commercial performance, ensuring that the finance function is an enabler of profitable investment. My goal is to ensure we carry out operations in a way that best translates into sustainable value. Sometimes this means having the numbers to back up the available choices, sometimes the knowledge to point out the unintended financial consequences of what seems a common-sense decision on the frontline. Always it involves challenging people's assumptions or supporting them with the right management information.Specialties: Investment appraisal, financial planning and analysis, communication of financial information to non-finance users, systems implementation, business plans, cashflow forecasting, restructuring, talent-spotting & talent development, improving communication between departments, financial accounts, management accounts, corporate treasury, banking relationship management.

Operations Board Finance DirectorFairview Estates (Housing) Ltd Jan 2015 - PresentLondon, England, United KingdomMy role encompasses -Investment appraisal – I’ve acquired over £500m of sites for residential and mixed-use development leading on all finance matters including obtaining lender approvals, advising on tax and structure of corporate purchases, and preparing and presenting a concluding development appraisal to enable a prompt decision. Corporate treasury - I've refinanced our revolving facility 8 times taking it from £50m to £130m, renegotiating covenants and utilising term loans and swaps to manage borrowing capacity and interest rate risk. I lead on all agency correspondence.Business plan - I manage borrowing requirements and land spend budgets by producing a rolling, monthly 5-year forecast saving significant non-utilisation fees by matching our borrowing facilities to peaks and troughs in activity. Audit – I lead on going concern, work in progress, long-term contract profit-take and shared equity debt valuation. My analysis supported on-time sign-off of our 2019 accounts as the audit industry struggled to cope with going concern in the wake of COVID uncertainty.Joint Ventures – I lead on financial reporting for a number of joint ventures including negotiating exit valuations, designing and producing board packs and KPI dashboards, liaising with employer’s agents & managing surveyors and dealing with ad hoc reporting for partnerships with RSL’s, high net worth individuals and other developers. The relationships and systems that I've built have enabled us to partner with a variety of organisations concurrently in a cost-effective manner.

By improving analysis of cashflow and capital expenditure I was able to mitigate steep energy price rises by identifying unrealised efficiencies in the maintenance and capital works budgets.
