Daniel Chai specializes in the application of modern financial and institutional economics to complex business issues and proceedings. He advises clients and their counsel on matters typically involving asset valuation, economic analysis of contracts, and the role of incentives and industry custom and practice in the corporate strategic decision-making process. These matters are often in the context of shareholder disputes, M&A transaction litigation, economic damages quantification, or allegations of white collar crime. Mr. Chai has provided trial and affidavit testimony in the state courts of New Hampshire. He also has extensive experience managing large, multiple-expert litigation consulting engagements serving in the role of coordinating, non-testifying expert. Some noteworthy matters include coordinating expert in a multidisciplinary executive compensation matter, ultimately on behalf of Richard Grasso, former chairman and CEO of the New York Stock Exchange, and coordinating expert in a class and derivative shareholder litigation, ultimately on behalf of the private equity firm WL Ross & Co. Prior to his consulting career, Mr. Chai spent eight years in the securities industry where he focused on global strategic planning issues for a major brokerage house/investment bank in New York where he was an associate vice president in the private client group. Mr. Chai earned an AB in economics from Cornell University and an MBA with a concentration in finance from the Simon Business School at the University of Rochester, where he currently serves as a guest lecturer for the Consulting Practicum second-year elective.
