Since 2011, I have co-edited Leeds United fanzine The Square Ball, guiding it through its 25th anniversary, using the unwieldy pen name Moscowhite. During that time, The Square Ball has been shortlisted for the Football Supporters’ Federation Fanzine of the Year award six times, and won twice. As editor I work with a team of contributors and art director Eamon Dalton to fill nearly 100 magazine pages ten times a season with the finest words and pictures we can imagine about Leeds United Football Club.As a writer I contribute a mixture of long polemics, interviews, investigative pieces about the club's various ownerships and fantastical gap fillers ('Robert Snodgrass is Tired').I also recorded (and latterly presented) 99 episodes of The Square Ball Podcast, proclaiming confident and not very well thought out opinions on Leeds United to a listenership that surprisingly stayed up in the thousands. The podcast is on a (hopefully) temporary hiatus, while calls for its return are the most stressful aspect of being on social media for everyone involved. My voice can occasionally still be heard as a guest on BBC Radio Leeds' West Yorkshire Sport, and Radio Five Live.

From 2013 to 2017 I was editor at The City Talking, part of Hebe Works, a media company that produces magazines and feature-length documentary films inspired by cities. Hebe Works has been named as one of the ’50 Most Creative Companies in England’ by Creative England, a media ‘New Radical’ by The Observer and one of the leading examples of ‘Cross Industry Collaboration’ by the Creative Industries Council.As an editor I work with writers to develop story ideas and prepare interviews, then debrief and guide them towards a finished article, bombarding them with precedents from antique New Yorker's and filling the comments sections of Google Documents with oblique YouTube links, relevant gifs, encouraging emojis and rock solid advice. I'm dead good at finding the one paragraph that needs to move to change everything.As a writer I turn all the above upon myself, specialising in longform feature profiles that bloom imaginatively around the edges.The City Talking website is the main home for my writing about Leeds United, including match reports and a weekly column, The Square Ball Week; there have now been more than 250 editions of the column.I oversee story for The City Talking's expanding documentary film series, identifying subjects, conducting interviews, editing footage into narratives and working on scripts. Films I've written for so far include Music in Leeds, Vol.1 to 3, Fashion in Leeds, Tech in Leeds, Tech in The North, and Do You Want To Win?, the story of how Howard Wilkinson transformed Leeds — the football club and the city — between 1988 and 1992.
