As the construction manager on this $25 MM expansion, Dan was responsible for budget, coordination between subcontractors and managing and executing the schedule and construction efforts. Also, Dan was responsible for creating and maintaining the schedule, change management, subcontracts, purchase orders, design, client support and satisfaction. The project included installation on a new broiler, main distribution panel and outlying panels, chiller, AHU, ductwork, clean steam, LF hoods and 2 freeze dryers.

This $60 MM plant expansion allowed the client to produce active pharmaceutical ingredients and biologically-derived substances for a new drug for canines. The client required an expedited construction process where 23 months’ worth of work needed to be completed in 13. The team completed work within this time frame by establishing three major deliverables. These related to facility layout, long-lead equipment specifications and early structural design packages.As the project/construction engineer, Dan was responsible for the MEP and equipment installation. These systems include a range in utilities: electrical MDP, electrical panels, chilled water, plant steam, clean steam and WFI water. These systems also included a range in new process systems: WFI system, portable and stationary batching tanks, process controls, CIP system and temperature control units.

Dan was the supervisor and contract administrator/planner for the Exxon Mobil Kearl Lake multi-billion-dollar extraction facility located in Alberta, Canada. As the supervisor, his responsibilities included commissioning of the plant, and scheduling and contract management of the earthwork, concrete and site utilities, which amounted to over $80 MM. As the contract administrator and planner, Dan’s responsibilities included creating budgets for the operations, purchasing and scheduling material, managing the operations to reflect contract requirements and responsibilities. With both these responsibilities Dan was most importantly required to meet the needs of the client and maintain relationships and support.
