About Daniel Clark
I wear a number of hats across the public and private sectors (and in between), but all of my interests and activity revolve around my love of building cities and creating economic opportunity.As the Director of Business Development for NYCEDC, I have the awesome responsibility of leading NYC's business attraction, expansion, and retention portfolio. Our team works globally across all industries to ensure that companies not only choose to move to and grow in NYC, but are able to take advantage of the enormous opportunities that the global financial capital provides. I previously served as the Executive Director of the Staten Island Business Outreach Center (SIBOC) and as the Executive Director of the Forest Avenue Business Improvement District. In addition to my day job, I served over 10 years in the US Army National Guard, most recently as an infantry Company Commander. Currently, I serve as an Innovation Officer in the US Army Reserves and consider it a great privilege to be able to maintain this as a major part of my life. As the Executive Director, my role was to provide overall management of the organization including overseeing a staff of 7 across our Neighborhood Development, Workforce Development, and Small Business Service departments.---SIBOC is the founder and operator of the 1st Business Improvement District on Staten Island, the Forest Avenue BID, and serves as the historic leader in Staten Island neighborhood development. We also manage the Victory Boulevard Merchants Association and recently completed a 3 year Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) study that resulted in the first brownfield designation for the borough of Staten Island. Other neighborhoods we work in include Stapleton, Tompkinville, and New Brighton.In addition to our neighborhood development based mission, SIBOC empowers entrepreneurs and small business owners through a combination of business assistance such as, one on one business counseling, business plan development, marketing, seminars/workshops on timely business topics and assistance with government certification and contracting. SIBOC is the primary M/WBE certifying agency for Staten Island, New Jersey, and Connecticut.Workforce Development has become a top priority for the organization, and in 2017 oversaw one of the largest workforce efforts in the history of Staten Island.
