Founded in 1980, the Staten Island Business Outreach Center (SIBOC) has been providing services to small businesses and commercial corridors on Staten Island for over 35 years. As the Executive Director, my role was to provide overall management of the organization including overseeing a staff of 7 across our Neighborhood Development, Workforce Development, and Small Business Service departments.---SIBOC is the founder and operator of the 1st Business Improvement District on Staten Island, the Forest Avenue BID, and serves as the historic leader in Staten Island neighborhood development. We also manage the Victory Boulevard Merchants Association and recently completed a 3 year Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) study that resulted in the first brownfield designation for the borough of Staten Island. Other neighborhoods we work in include Stapleton, Tompkinville, and New Brighton.In addition to our neighborhood development based mission, SIBOC empowers entrepreneurs and small business owners through a combination of business assistance such as, one on one business counseling, business plan development, marketing, seminars/workshops on timely business topics and assistance with government certification and contracting. SIBOC is the primary M/WBE certifying agency for Staten Island, New Jersey, and Connecticut.Workforce Development has become a top priority for the organization, and in 2017 oversaw one of the largest workforce efforts in the history of Staten Island.
