This role has two key functions and involves working closely with management, production, engineering and quality.The first function is working as a Test & Development Engineer, which involves supporting existing MDA and functional testing carried out on various PCBA's in production. Secondly, performing DFM (design for manufacture) checks on new PCB designs to highlight and address design issues that would lead to production problems. Thirdly, developing small programs and tools to perform automated programming and testing of products.The second function is working as a Continuous Improvement Manager, working closely with quality, engineering and production to continuously improve the processes and work performed to improve quality, reduce production times and highlight areas for improvement. Utilising 3D printing, CNC and software tools to implement the necessary improvements. A key improvement project was managing the implementation of a new production software, PROPOS. This included installation in production and training/support for employees.

Implemented improvements to the order books utilised for multiple customers to add data validation and automation. Implemented input forms and integration with Outlook to provide data validation and automated data entry from other validated sources. Investigated aged work in progress items that had missed contracted dates or been in house for extended period to close these out.

Working on the PCB production line supporting operators and the ME team with developing new tooling, process improvements and new fixture development utilising the skills gained in my previous rotation. Using rapid prototyping techniques to approach and solve problems faster as operators could try the prototypes and give more valuable feedback leading to a better solution being implemented and in a short time period.Developed understanding of programming IC's, owning the cell, developing the missing documentation and further training for operators. Interreacted with suppliers to identify a new programmer to upgrade the existing system, including performing cost out activities for those devices that could not be supported. The problems with the process were also identified using lean principals and steps taken to improve the wastes identified. Worked with a daily stand up rhythm with the team, regularly presenting updates to the team and business leads.

Working on projects including new sensor development, modification of current sensors to meet a specific customer requirement and long-term testing on the stability of sensors produced. Performed environmental testing, fault finding and diagnosis, including rig development for long term testing. Created documentation, design and development of electronic circuits and worked regularly with other teams, such as software, mechanical and production lines to ensure deadlines were achieved.
