I am a seasoned corporate lawyer with some 30 years of international law firm and in-house experience in the European investment industry. My current focus is on promoting sustainability, net zero and ESG, drawing on my legal experience to navigate the jungle of overlapping legislation and initiatives. As senior legal adviser to Patron Capital, I lead investment transactions across Europe that range from hotel & leisure, financial institutions, pure real estate, to operating business mainly in the SME sector. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is the ongoing involvement with investee companies’ boards, supporting their growth strategy, dealing with a wide range of debt funding and legal-operational issues, and having lived and worked across Europe, intermediating the cultural differences across jurisdictions. I am also spending significant time devising and rolling-out our ESG strategy to portfolio companies and local partners. One of the most effective way to drive home the sustainability message and to stay physically and mentally healthy is to spend time in nature. As trustee of the Snowline Foundation, I am passionate about encouraging senior executives embrace the outdoors to focus on their longer term personal and philanthropic objectives.With some 30 years’ experience as a transactional lawyer in PE and over 20 years experience as a committed dad, the only wisdom I can offer is this: let’s do what we can to ensure that our kids will inherit a natural world that is worth living in.
