I'm a psychology major. That means my academic interests are centered around a desire to attain a holistic understanding of why people behave the way they do. How do people's interactions with the world around them shape their behavior, and how does our magnificently-designed body influence our choices? By extension, how can I, as a scholar of psychology, help spark change in the world? These questions drive my spirit to pursue education in the social sciences.My primary area of interest in psychology is child and adolescent psychology. As someone who strongly believes that the best way to change the world is by guiding our youth to lead happier and healthier lives, I am an avid proponent of providing our kids with every opportunity to seek positive growth. Unfortunately, we live in a world that actively ignores children and instead creates scenarios like war, inequality, and injustice that make it practically impossible for them to find that positive growth, so you get a cycle of worldwide hatred and contempt, leading to the same song and dance of negative life chances like houselessness, hunger, poverty, and violence. As a scholar of psychology, I'm going to do what I can to change that, and I believe I can with the right tools.In my free time, I enjoy writing fiction stories, screenplays, and poetry. I am currently working on a fanfiction of Steven King's The Body, where Gordie helps Chris hide the bodies of two men he killed in self-defense. I'm also planning a novel about a group of boys who go on a journey to capture a raider in a post-apocalyptic wasteland as well as other projects. Most recently, I have ventured into the realm of Creative Nonfiction Writing.
