My general focus is on complex problem solving, managing internal operations, providing cross functional team leadership, and directing interagency operations as Chief of Staff at RI Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS). EOHHS agencies account for ~$6bn or 40% of total state budget. Prior to EOHHS, I am an experienced attorney focusing on litigation, business law, and government strategies.My prior litigation experience includes zealous advocacy in court, before administrative tribunals, and extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution (ADR). My prior business law experience includes transactions including negotiating, drafting, and reviewing legal documents, contracts, and agreements. My prior government strategies work includes lobbying for clients across a broad spectrum of industries. My prior government experience includes serving as a state senator, a state senate majority leader, and as a senior advisor to a governor. My additional assignments have included an appointment to serve as Interim Secretary of Housing (and a member of the Governor's Cabinet).My prior higher education experience includes teaching a senior-level management capstone on business, innovation, and entrepreneurship for over a decade. Additionally, my experience includes serving on the New England Board of Higher Education. As an attorney, my bar admissions include the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of Rhode Island; and my court admissions include the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island, and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
