Assistant Ecologist
CurrentI currently work as an Assistant Ecologist at Forestry England covering the East of England district. My main role is to carry out habitat and species monitoring to inform the management of designated sites such as Sites of Special Scientific Interest. This surveying focuses on identifying priority habitats and monitoring European protected and priority species. I manage internal and external contracts and volunteers to deliver conservation projects across the district. I also maintain conservation data to verify existing sources and to update data layers such as GIS mapping with the most up-to-date ecological data to inform decision making and planning. In addition, I assist with general administration such as financial planning, report writing and data analysis.
