CurrentBrief Biography …My first job involved metalwork.Transforming metals has always been a passion of mine, and for over ten years I worked in a variety of sectors: from aviation, nuclear and car manufacturing to pharmaceutical, food and other industries. This period allowed me, through the modification of metal, to understand the immateriality of the elements and see objects beyond their initial appearances.Ten years later, I set up and directed an air conditioning company. Attracted by human contact, I was also the company’s commercial director and developed it to another level. At the age of 50, the sale of the business gave me the freedom to start a new chapter in my life.My first desire was to discover other cultures, stay away from big cities and to remain as close to nature as possible. For the following two years I lived in northern Madagascar. The wide open spaces, the lemurs, brought me back to my childhood dreams.Through light, I discovered the harshness of life, deeply engraved on people’s faces, and found this upsetting. So I kept traveling, further away, elsewhere.I then discovered Asia and learnt yet more about myself.Thailand, Nepal, India, Burma …I settled in southern India, spellbound, but inhenrently, remained a nomad always seeking new experiences.I photograph more than ever, and the places I visit live within me. I pass through them as much as they pass through me.I change. And I seek to share this exchange. To make the invisible visible.danielcordonnier@gmail.com http://www.danielcordonnier.com
