After high school I enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. I completed my boot camp training in Cape May, New Jersey and was stationed in Yorktown, Virginia. My roll at Training Center Yorktown, was to accept and deliver all mission essential equipment to the base upon arrival at the base warehouse. I also worked in the mailroom on base where, again, all essential papers and packages came to for me to deliver to the base. This Mail-clerk position required me to have a “Secret” clearance and was a very important task as highly important letters, addressed to our Commanding Officer, would have to be delivered in a timely manner. I enjoyed my time in the Coast Guard. After my time in the service I found myself in the world of aviation. I have worked at Oconee Regional Airport for over two years now and have loved every minute of my time here. I am very hands on, prompt, and quick to learn any and every position and or task that is given to me. I sell Jet fuel and customer service. First impressions are everything and are what people tend to remember most. I am the first person to greet our passengers and pilots and the last person to see them on their way when they depart. I make sure the pilots get whatever they need for their aircraft as soon they land and help the passengers with luggage and miscellaneous things they might need. I maintain the airfield inside and out. I often find myself cleaning the terminal or cutting grass outside when the days are slow. The upkeep and presence of the airport is of high importance. We are a small county airport that sits about a mile behind Clemson University. Aviation has become apart of my life in many ways, and I am looking forward to the future of this airport as it has started to grow with the University. Go Tigers
