13A: The field artillery officer leads the field artillery branch, who neutralizes the enemy by cannon, rocket and missile fire. The officer must be an expert in tactics, techniques and procedures for the employment of fire support systems.

Collateral Duty Sexual Assault Response Coordinator (SARC), Victim Advocate (VA)Sexual assault response coordinators (SARCs) serve as the single point of contact to coordinate sexual assault victim care. They track the services provided from the initial report of a sexual assault through disposition and resolution of the victim’s health care and support service needs. SARCs are integral to the Army’s efforts to eliminate incidents of sexual harassment and sexual assault through a comprehensive campaign plan.Serves as a Victim Advocate (SHARP) for the Battalion Commander, providing comprehensive assistance and liaison to victims of sexual assault and sexual harassment. Provides advocacy and educational services primarily to Army personnel, family members, DoD civilians OCONUS, and contractor personnel in a deployed environment outside the Brigade.

Platoon Leader in a firing battery is responsible for approximately $40M in property including 3xM109A7 (Howitzers), 3xM992A3 (CATS), 3xM1074A1 (PLS), 3xM1076 (PLS Trailer), 1xM1068A3 (CMD Post Carrier), and 2xM1280 (JLTV).The firing platoon leader commands and controls the Paladin platoon. He is responsible for all actions of the platoon to include tactical movement, continuous day/night and degraded operations, defense, communications, individual training, and enforcement of battery standards.During tactical operations, he positions himself to facilitate command and control of the platoon. For example, during a movement to contact, the platoon leader could be at a critical terrain choke point and may need to coordinate with maneuver elements to facilitate passage through a minefield. In the defense, he could be located in an overwatch position monitoring survivability moves or key avenues of approach.The firing platoon leader relies heavily on the platoon sergeant to supervise the firing elements and on the gunnery sergeant (GSG) to conduct reconnaissance, selection, and occupation of the position (RSOP).
