At 30 years old I had the motivation to return to school to finish my French teaching degree after years of struggling in school and dropping out of college twice. I'm happy to say so far it has been an overwhelming success, after my first 2 semesters as a full-time student at The University of Iowa, I have a 3.9 GPA, and was recently accepted into the World Language Teacher Education Program in the College of Education. Over the course of the last 15 years I have studied 12+ languages to various degrees of understanding and proficiency through school, self-study, or various public courses. My proficiencies range from a B2 level of French, an A2/B1 level in Spanish, to being able to string together a few simple sentences or survive a restaurant experience in another country. In 2015 I scored 100% on the 汉语水平考试 1(HSK1 Mandarin Chinese Proficiency Exam), and I am preparing to take the B1 and B2 DELF exams (Diplôme D'études En Langue Française (a French language proficiency exam)) soon. I have been working primarily in the banking industry since 2013 both in mortgage and retail, where I currently am while I finish my degree.
