Overview

Solarcentury

London, Nairobi

I am a co-founder and have been a key player in building Solarcentury into one of the most respected solar companies in the world. My senior management roles have changed as the business has grown and include sales, engineering, general management and innovation. I am technically and commercially literate, able to build strong client relationships and teams in developed and emerging markets. As Head of Engineering and then CTO I was responsible for our first projects – from sales to design and delivery. With a growing team my role became more focused on the development of innovative solutions for our clients – mostly architects, property developers and main contractors seeking specialist solar solutions. These projects helped establish Solarcentury as the leading solar installer in the UK. As the market started to expand I provided technical guidance to our Sales Team and led the development of award-winning building integrated solar products. A strategic review in 2012 under a new CEO gave me the opportunity to set up Solarcentury in East Africa. This business was focused on bringing hybrid solar solutions to businesses in that region and I quickly established Solarcentury East Africa as the market leader in Kenya. Returning to the UK in 2015 I expanded the solar hybrid expertise my team had developed and we started winning projects across Africa. As General Manager for Africa, my team and I have delivered complex projects in Eritrea, Kenya, Congo, Nigeria and Ghana. We have worked for investor/IPPs, donor funded projects as well as providing turnkey solutions direct to African businesses. I built a team operating across Africa drawing on the engineering and project management skills within Solarcentury and delivering high quality, profitable projects.
