I am part of the feed ranking team on the Facebook app manages and optimizes the core feed ranking algorithm that powers the Home feed. My thesis work involved understanding the regulatory circuity behind angiogenesis, the process of forming new blood vessels.My work here included:* Working with experiential collaborators to analyze assays based on high-throughput sequencing technology* Modeling and searching for biologically relevant patterns in large genomic data* Developing ways to display the results to present to other biologists and computationalists* Applying multiple different statistical tools (e.g., linear regression models, Hidden Markov Models) to uncover important patterns in the data* Integrated and modeled multiple genomic data sets to make biological predictions about the underlying regulatory circuity of endothelial cells, chromatin structure, etc., and several of these predictions were later validated experimentally* Developed analyses in R, C, and C++* Presented my work at Harvard Medical School, MIT and conferences
