Offshore Service Engineer deploying a diverse array of oil and gas safety and security monitoring systems as well as maritime communication and radar sensory equipment. Correlating critical information providing operators with the capability to achieve a complete view of situations they face in order to make timely decisions.Ultimately supplying collision risk management and security surveillance services to offshore oil and gas operators to enable them to protect their above the surface and underwater assets. Achieved by monitoring for ships, small craft and approaches by potential criminals and terrorists using radar, electro-optical and other sensors.We specialise in X-Band radar, AIS, UHF Transponders, VOIP and man overboard systems. Day to day I provide remote support to our customers, when offshore I carry out maintenance and installation and commissioning of our systems.

Norway

I was responsible for all of Technip's Telecommunications and IT systems on board the Skandi Arctic DSV. I worked a 3/3 rotation in the north sea and Norwegian sector.I would oversee VSAT, Satcomms, TVRO TV system, on board radio comms, CCTV, Clearcom, any and all IT issues.

North Sea

I am solely responsible for all forms of on board communications. Day to day i maintain and repair when necessary all communications systems. The main roles and responsibilities i have are--Maintaining GMDSS and SOLAS equipments. line of sight VHF link. Ku band VSAT link. VHF/UHF/Airband on board radio comms systems. PA system. DARPS and Artemis systems. Tanker telemetry systems. Weather systems. Sky TV system/Internet.-Any PABX/telephone issues.-Structured cabling and glanding-All IT and desktop support issues.-I am also the radio operator, communicating with aircraft on a daily basis.-ISSOW permits to work system.-Compex trained -Active member of our strong HSE culture.I was employed as a core crew member on an FPSO in the North Sea working a 2/3 shift rotation.

Dyce, Aberdeen

My position was within the Operations department of Harris Caprock Communications Aberdeen, exclusively involved in rectifying faulty equipment returning from offshore and ensuring a fast turnaround. Primarily the satellite equipment supported is both fixed and stabilised, L, C and KU band VSAT terminals and their associated hardware. I am a fully qualified (to GVF standards) VSAT installations engineer.

Satellite communications Technician based in Dyce,Aberdeen. Providing satellite communications to customers in remote locations, predominantly the oil and gas industry.Within this role i was responsible for the testing and repair of VSAT equipments,GPS systems, Multiplexers, RF equipments (Transceivers/BUC's/LNB's) and satellite modems. I am skilled in the use of tools and test equipments including oscilloscopes, Spectrum analyzers, Power meters and Multimeter's.

I was contracted for 8 months with my main roles and responsibilities being the installation of Cat5e/Cat6 and Fibre optic cable installation (Multi mode and single mode). This contract also involved the installation of patch panels and conduit trunking. I was also responsible for fibre splicing and testing fibre cables.

Worldwide

Whilst serving with the Royal signals for 8 years I had hands on experience with varied forms of communications equipment from Satellite communications to HF/VHF Radio. Working as a first and second line technician I have excellent fault finding skills I have rectified faults on data equipment, including multiplexed fibre optic equipment and cryptographic equipment down to component level.I also carried out regular inspections of Communications Installations and PA Systems. For 12 months i was directly responsible for electrical safety within the workplace. I also have experience with PABX's, digital exchanges, various antenna systems, structured cabling and GPS systems.Worked in challenging and hostile environments including Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo and the Falkland islands.

I completed a 2 year apprenticeship at the Royal school of Signals in Blandford, Dorset. On completion I was a fully trained and competent.
