Reporting to the Vice President/Director of Operations, the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Director provides strategic leadership and is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of comprehensive EH&S programs and policies.Develops, implements, and evaluates company programs and procedures, which enhance EH&S awareness and compliance with federal, state, and local EH&S laws and regulations as well as company policies and guidelines.Lead and/or participate in regular safety inspections/audits of the facility to identify potential environmental health and safety hazards and discrepancies. Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory standards, and national codes to develop solutions to issues.Facilitates and review all investigations of incidents, accidents, near misses, complaints and/or problems (injuries, spills, audits, etc.); Conducting root cause analysis and recommending changes of current procedures or controls to prevent and mitigate potential future property loss and/or injury.Conduct research and review of federal, state, and local regulatory rules and standards related to physical, chemical and hazardous waste. Ensure necessary data for EH&S reports is tracked along with timely submittal of reports. Act as the lead contact with government EH&S agencies (OSHA/EPA). Leads and advises safety committee to implement all EH&S policies while developing a workplace safety culture.Supervises the development and progression of all EH&S staff (Management/Safety Committee members) in providing support to individual operating departments.
