My name is Daniel Millar, I am an Electrical Engineer at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Lakehurst, New Jersey. I was born and raised in Ocean City, New Jersey, where I enjoyed having the beaches and boardwalk just down the road and going on camping trips during my time as a Boy Scout. Through Boy Scouts I learned a substantial amount about leadership, survival, appreciation for nature, first aid and helping the community. These traits have become critical in informing my values and perspective on myself, my life, and the world around me. In 2019, I proudly attained the rank of Eagle Scout! Through high school, I grew a passion for mathematics and engineering through Ocean City High School’s Java programming track and Project Lead The Way(PLTW). Rowan University’s Engineering Clinics give students the ability to focus on larger, cross-disciplinary work. Currently, I am the project manager for the IREC (Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition) sounding rocket Clinic. As manager, I organize 24 other students in my clinic into sub-teams, establishing and tracking requirements, tasks, goals, and preparing for design reviews. We are in the process of creating a single stage rocket for the 10,000ft C.O.T.S. category at The SpacePort America Cup. Through IREC, I became involved in its associated club, Rowan’s American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics(AIAA). When elections came up December of 2021, I was elected for AIAA Secretary and Student Government Senator. As secretary I am responsible for taking and organizing notes on club meetings, tracking attendance, and managing the club’s email. As the club’s senator I attend weekly meetings with the entire student government body and student affairs committee. During the Summer of 2022, I had the opportunity to work as a Gateways intern at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical center. Getting to see engineers working in industry helped get me excited for a similar future. Currently, I am in search of both full time employment in the aerospace industry and a master’s program for electrical engineering after my graduation. I am always excited about expanding my ability to work with the principles and applications of electrical, computer, aerospace, and systems engineering!
