Main areas of responsibility were:• Ensuring a safe working environment was maintained.• Setting and achieving budget production targets and project completion deadlines.• Management of underground and open pit mining, with direct reports including Underground Manager and Open Pits Manager.Significant achievements in the role:• Successfully established ore production in the Gwalia Deeps Project, including management of significant underground capital works and infrastructure establishment (including rapid decline advance over 500 vertical metres; mining of an 800m deep single-pass raisebored ventilation shaft and fan installation; refrigeration plant and pastefill plant and reticulation network).• Lead a Project Team tasked with establishing additional mill feed sources that subsequently established open pit mining in an accelerated timeframe involving planning, permitting, recruitment and community stakeholder engagement.

Employed on a short-term contract to manage the Paulsens Mine. The role also involved leading a focused review of mining operations that created a framework for key operational improvements. The review included contractor performance, mining method selection, grade control, dilution management and technical standards.

Duties included liaison with third parties in the sale process of the operation. Technical and operational reviews were conducted interrogating ore reserves, costing and management structures.

Assumed operational management of all surface mining activities in 2006 including multiple concurrent open pits, tailings facilities and significant pumping infrastructure required for mining below the local salt lakes.Alternate Resident Manager for the multiple mine operation.

The operation involved mining at several open pits spread over a large tenement holding alongside an underground mine operating on a royalty contract basis. The operation branched into toll treatment of ore sourced from third parties. Conducted a financial and operational review that resulted in a successful sale of the operation.Initially filled the role of Alternate Resident Manager (2004).

Managed an open pit gold mining operation, including a 1.2mtpa processing plant and 140 person accommodation camp

Responsible for management of an underground gold mine applying a mix of traditional hand-held stoping mining methods alongside modern longhole stoping.Improved profit margin by revising mining practices and employee relations, including ownership transition and subsequent modified employment agreements.

Developed long term plans and calculated mine reserve estimates for the Corporation, majority owned and managed by WMC Ltd.Assumed statutory management of underground mines in the Manager’s ad hoc absences.
