While applying a comprehensive, in-depth knowledge of publication concepts and practices, United Technical Writers develop documents that meet or exceed company standards, as well as meet the requirements of FAA guidelines, Boeing, and ATA Specs. United Technical Writers also create, maintain, and publish the Technical and Airport Operations Division business manuals.Responsibilities include: *Oversee and endorse the professional layout and production of United documents and the revision process to company and FAA regulated documents*Utilize TechSight/X, Arbortext, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Adobe, Windchill, etc.*Prepare text, including developing, writing, editing, rewriting, formatting and/or web publishing of technical and non-technical material for publication*Efficiently manage heavy workloads as to meet critical publication deadlines*Adhere to all policies and procedures with regards to layout, production, publications, and distributions as per the General Maintenance Manual (GMM)*Maintain historical archives of all processed documents *Coordinate workloads and projects to assure timely and accurate completion*Utilize and maintain checklists by manual type*Monitor workload per department metrics *Provide customer service to internal and external customers*Interact and effectively communicate with Methods & Standards, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Field Maintenance personnel regarding technical document publication requirements*Ensure both United Airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration Manuals and Documents regulations are met and maintained to avoid aircraft delays, increased costs, and improper maintenance

Prepared technical documentation and interactive manuals that included operational, maintenance, and training documentation as required*Researched, documented, and developed detailed procedures to include operator, maintenance, troubleshooting, fault isolation, checklists, technical specifications, field alert bulletins, training materials, and other procedures and reports*Developed and reviewed technical documents for content, accuracy, and format*Planned and coordinated with team to investigate and resolve problem areas as to complete projects within specified deadline*Utilized Arbortext Epic Editor, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Adobe XI Pro, Windchill, Snagit, DevTrack, SGML-based writing, and other applications*Collected and reviewed source data material such as engineering drawings, software description documents, test plans, design specifications/documentation, etc…*Communicated with engineers, subject matter experts, technicians, and customers as to acquire necessary information to develop technical solutions *Analyzed reports, prepared power point slides to present data to customers, and completed any other side projects necessary to meet objectives and deadlines
