After acquiring my Honours degree in Actuarial Science in 2017, I rolled into the FirstRand graduate program. My first rotation at WesBank was in Retail Credit and Provisioning and hence I acquired skills in these areas - including SAS coding. My second rotation was in FCC Risk where I worked with Liquidity risk - including forecasting LCR and automating system processes. I am now in Enterprise Risk Management for Group Credit Risk Management where we validate the credit models for the group. I also calculate and report on Model risk Economic Capital and contribute to the FirstRand Group's Model Risk maturity as per BCBS 239 requirements. My role further entails the calculation and management of our Economic Capital Calculation for Credit Risk. We are soon moving to a new Operating model called Group Model Risk Management (GMRM). GMRM will ensure our model validation scope expands and we will soon be working on non-credit models to test whether these are fit for purpose. I've also taken up athletics as a Bladerunner in 2018 and presented South Africa at the World Championships in November 2019 as well as at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. My training has since kicked off again with the aim of completing another Paralympic cycle with Paris 2024 being the end of the line.
