Outdoor Recreation Assistant (Ptsd “Golf Is The Solution” Program)
Responsibilities were to develop innovative solutions to solve difficult and complex outdoor recreation problems, issues, or projects for Combat Wounded Veterans currently enrolled in the Veterans Health Administration’s PTSD “Golf is the Solution” Program, and Outpatient MOVE Program assisting overweight and obese Veterans weight loss methods to which included the great game of golf! Responsible for establishing new methods and procedures that positively impact overall program execution. Assisted the Program Chief in development of the medical center’s recreational golf budget that included all necessary coordination within the budget office, and Veteran Recreation Recruitment offices. Quarterly duties included assisting in the development of recreation resource policy, programs and regulations. Developing guidelines, technical standards and procedures for recreation uses on on non-federally owned lands to include but not limited to semi-private & private golf course usage. Often provided advice and assistance to Combat Wounded Amputee Veterans and overweight MOVE program patients on the proper mechanics of the Golf swing within the limitations of their physical. Weekly duties included driving range golf instruction and/or course play with our nations finest men and women whom almost gave the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom and protection of this great nation. Daily duties included documenting progress notes in patients medical profile, and ensuring the proper check in/check out procedures. Was extremely successful in ensuring the donations of all golf equipment, apparel and accessories so Veterans would be provided properly fit and functional golf clubs, bags, balls, and shoes to aide in ensuring the Veterans’ completion of the program.
