Worked in a molecular genetics laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Laurent Seroude professor of molecular genetics. The research was primarily focused on the effects of ageing in the common fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) as a model organism. Looked at mutations to better understand the process of ageing to further understand neurodegenerative diseases such as Schizophrenia, Huntington, and Alzheimer’s. • Performed laboratory experiments such as Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), DNA digests, genetic crosses, and genetic screens• Maintained and prepared transgenic specimen samples to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations• Operated and maintained advanced scientific equipment in relation to molecular genetics• Analyzed and interpreted data in preparation for scientific publication• Prepared chemical solutions for products or processes, following standardized formulas and created experimental formulas.

Served as a Teaching Assistant in a mandatory molecular genetics course. Assigned to oversee the laboratory component of the course as well as to teach theories behind each experiment and lab skills crucial for students to complete their Bachelor of Science degree.• Taught 40+, second-year science students basic and fundamental lab skills, data analysis, and corresponding Mendelian genetics theory.• Supervised students conducting laboratory experiments on DNA digestion, PCR, CRISPR, and model organism identification and simple genetic cross and screenings for Drosophila melanogaster.• Evaluated laboratory reports, quizzes, and assignments for all students enrolled in the course.
