Hi, I'm Daniel Edward. I am currently pursuing a M.A.Sc in Mechanical Engineering with the desire of specializing in Vehicle Controls and Modelling. Up to this point I have completed my undergraduate degree in B-Tech Automotive and Vehicle Technology, secured coop positions that align with my desired skillset, completed 2 graduate level courses, obtained valuable TA experience, and have continuously contributed to the PCM (Propulsion Controls and Modelling) sub team in McMaster EcoCAR for 2 years. Through my undergraduate academic experience, I have been able to develop a foundation of knowledge that sets me up for success in automotive controls. Key skills to highlight include a strong conception of control systems, C++ programming and vehicle power flow in ICE, Hybrid and EV configurations. With the help of coop experiences, graduate level courses, TA positions and EcoCAR contribution, I have been able to leverage these skills so that they can be at the point they are at today. To be specific, this includes a strong theoretical and practical understanding of propulsion control strategies, modelling of mechanical systems, GIT workflows, CAN protocols, XIL testing/validation, and requirement tracking and verification. To showcase my proficiency in these skills, I was one of the few selected individuals assigned to represent McMaster University at an EcoCAR Final Competition 2 years in a row, both times resulting in McMasters highest placement out of its 10 years of participation.Going forward I intend on further enhancing these skills, specifically via the strategic selection of my thesis topic, remaining graduate courses and the continuous involvement on the PCM team. Being an individual who fosters continuous growth, I am planning to do whatever it takes so that I can become a valuable controls engineer in my future workplace!
