Reporting to the Director of Alternative Education, I oversaw online learning for ~6500 students grades 7-12 across the Division. I worked closely with junior high and high school principals to ensure consistent quality online learning. I managed a large team of lead teachers that developed digital resources, and developed an online school for approximately 3000 students who could not be served by their community schools. During this challenging year and without the direct support of other school administrators, I quickly learned the art of distributive leadership. I worked closely with lead teachers and the online learning consultant to manage the day to day runnings of a large virtual school.

As the assistant principal of Corpus Christi, I worked closely with the school principal for a full year prior to the schools opening. We set the vision and direction, hired staff, and prepared materials and supplies for the school opening. A culture of high expectations was fostered for staff and students by communicating a clear vision, frequently reviewing student and staff performance, and aligning monthly staff meeting agenda items with the school mission, vision, and growth plan goals. Additionally, we made time for regular meetings with faculty and support staff to discuss student performance and performance barriers. Our work was intentional to develop staff and teacher efficacy, and was done using the Collaborative Response Model.

As the on site school administrator I worked closely with department heads and lead teachers in the development and implementation of the 4th and 5th year high school academic programming, ELL programming, and School of Alternative Education Fresh Start program. Using the leadership process of Appreciative Inquiry, we identified the unique needs and strengths of our students and built a groundbreaking program that served the young adult learners in our school. The school rapidly grew from a few hundred registrations to several thousand course registrations each year, eventually adding a second campus.

Alberta Yard Works Ltd. serviced residential outdoor construction needs in Northern Alberta. We provided consulting, design, construction, and general contracting for multitude of medium sized outdoor projects, including decks, sheds, fences, gazebos, and general framing needs.
