About Daniel Farber

I've been a law professor for forty years. I've had a broad range of interests, but most center on constitutional law or environmental law, especially climate change. Some of my work is purely dedicated to legal doctrine, but much of it is interdisciplinary. My publications include fifteen books and two hundred articles. I have also developed an interest in the nascent field of Disaster Law. My views on the issues in all of these fields tend toward the middle of the spectrum, which is sometimes a surprisingly unpopular position in academic life.Specialties: Climate change law and related issues (discounting, regulatory strategies in the face of uncertainty, regulation of and liability for catastrophic harms); cost-benefit analysis and its uses (and abuses) in the regulatory process; civil liberties and national security, disaster law.
