These functions will be related to applications design engineering of new and existing products. This position analyzes, interprets and recommends proper product design solutions for hazardous sites on highways throughout the world. Job duties will include:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSUnderstand and be familiar with highway design documents; MASH, NCHRP 350, EN1317, AASHTO Roadside Design Guide and applicable ASTM and other material and hardware specifications.Analyze, interpret and recommend conceptual through final design solutions for assigned engineering projects. I led in the creation and execution of an experiment testing the tensile properties ofvarious 3D printed materials. Using the data, I analyzed the effects of infill geometry,percent infill, and strain rate on the tensile properties. I utilized finite elementanalysis of 3D models in order to enrich the analysis and explain trends. I wrote aproposal and the final report (linked below) with the editing assistance of mysupervisor, Chris McCoy. It was published in the 11th Manufacturing Science andEngineering Conference (MSEC2016). In addition, I had the opportunity to presentmy research at the conference.I also designed 3D objects based on requests from the You3Dit’s users withSolidworks and Inventor. The objects I designed include both engineering parts andartistic items with more complex geometry.
