Looking for my big break, I took a position on the Nationwide Advisory Customer Service phone team after a buddy of mine said they were hiring. Despite not having any experience in the finance industry, my supremely talented and knowledgeable co-workers got me up to speed on the ins and out of annuities, primarily our Monument Advisor product. Within one year I was training our new hires and after roughly 18 months, I moved off the phone team, stayed within Ops and started working as a processor. More shuffling within the department occurred and I found myself working as one of our Agent Licensing specialists with only two weeks of training. I work directly with advisors, firms and broker dealers assisting them with their appointment/enrollment requests, policy issues, data feeds and anything else they may need as part of the post side of the annuity. I also handle our generic email box, answering questions from any and everyone who reaches out no matter the topic.

After being released from the USBC due to COVID-19, I decided to take a job at Kroger and start trying to work my way up the ladder. I took a full-time position in January 2021, running the Dairy department at a Kroger Marketplace, their brand of store by all measurable numbers. Shortly after getting there, my available department hours were cut by 30% and it forced me to work 55+ hours every week from my first week there, until my last week there. I enjoyed my staff, my co-workers, my managers and my store lead. Unfortunately, burning the candle at both ends in your mid-30's isn't something you can do for too long.

In 2019, I took an opportunity to relocate to Las Vegas for four months working for the United States Bowling Congress (USBC), the governing body for the sport of bowling in the United States. I was a part of a small PR team covering the USBC Open Championships, the largest annual participatory sporting event in the world. We provided event coverage (BOWL.com, press releases, social media) and on-site media relations for the event.Shortly thereafter, I began traveling for BowlTV, the USBC's live-streaming service, broadcasting and covering youth, collegiate and professional bowling tournaments. I was hired on full-time in January 2020 as the Digital Communications Coordinator, a position created strictly for me. Job duties would consist of traveling for all USBC-ran tournaments, including but not limited to seasonal relocation for the USBC Open Championships and year-round coverage of the Professional Women's Bowling Assocition (PWBA) Tour. Unfortunately, things came crashing down when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Despite us creating multiple successful podcasts, the USBC had to start letting people go as COVID-19 continued. When you're full-time job is to travel and cover bowling...and no one can travel and no tournaments are happening...you get the axe.
