Assistant Psychologist
My responsibilities include building therapeutic relationships with the service users, and supporting them on their care pathway by facilitating both group and individual interventions, under the supervision of a qualified psychologist. Additionally, I am responsible with writing CPA reports, writing and updating risk assessments (HCR-20, SAPROF), documenting instances of violent behaviour using the MOAS and producing reports and graphs on trends in behaviour; developing risk formulations for service users, using the CILF (Context, Impact, Likelihood, and Function) format, as well as utilising psychometric tools, such as the DAST, to assess risk. In addition to this, I produce materials for the wards, such as leaflets on mental health and One Page Patient Plans (OPPP). The latter are used by new staff on the ward to better know a service user’s risk, signs their mental state is deterioration, as well as effective ways to support. Moreover, I am responsible with delivering training to new staff on topics such as boundaries, substance misuse, Safewards and the importance of collaborative risk assessments, by encouraging discussions around topics covered and case studies.
Healthcare Assistant
The role involves forming therapeutic relationships with LSU and MSU service users diagnosed with personality disorders, learning difficulties, autism and eating disorders, supporting them in following their care plans, using tools like PBS plans to inform care. My duties also include liaising with the relevant members of the MDT regarding the treatment plans and risk assessments (HCR-20) of service users and any arising issues surrounding their implementation. Additionally, I am responsible with inducting new colleagues to the wards. On top of my healthcare assistant role, I am a security champion, tasked with identifying and raising concerns about possible security issues on the ward, working on proactive measures to reduce risks to service users and staff, as well as training and assisting colleagues in the security nurse role.
Appropriate Adult Volunteer
Supporting, advising and assisting vulnerable adults in police custody, with vulnerabilities such as mental health issues, learning difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and ensuring the police acts fairly and respect the rights of the person in custody, while facilitating communication between the police and the detained person, during police interviews.
