I am a specialist biomedical scientist working in Clinical Biochemistry. I have worked in NHS laboratories for 10 years gaining a range of experience in different laboratory settings with varying roles and responsibilities.Having worked across multiple sites during the South of Tyne merger I have experienced both the high throughput of samples in a cross regional automated system as well as a the urgency of a busy inner city hospital 'hot lab.' Since then I have worked at a specialist Children Hospital. Due to the necessity to work with small volumes of sample many of these test and procedures are non-automated, giving the work a more hands on feel. I enjoying competing in a range of sports, however my favourites are football and cricket. I help organise and run local football and cricket teams. This includes organising the team on and off the field, as well as managing the teams finances, kit and equipment purchasing and planning the short and long term goals of the club.
