Equal Exchange is not only a pioneer in Fair Trade coffee and food, but also in alternative, mission-based financing. I am responsible for acquiring and managing Equal Exchange's capital financing. I have raised over $6 million in preferred stock sales, and manage our investor base, including financial advisors and institutional investors, which has over $17 million in Class B preferred stock and over 500 active investors. I am also responsible for managing the relationships with mission-based lenders who have provided Equal Exchange with over $8 million in loans.As part of Equal Exchange's work in building a sustainable alternative economy, I frequently advise other co-operatives and alternative businesses in ways to raise capital in ways that sustain, rather than undermine, their social mission.I also speak regularly at universities and conferences, including: Harvard Law School, MIT, Tufts, Northeastern University, the Slow Living Summit, and elsewhere.

I was the editor of the "Real World Economics" textbook series. I edited and oversaw production for 6-7 books and new editions each year. I was also in charge of marketing and customer relations with professors and educators across the country. As a member of the Dollars & Sense collective, I also wrote several articles for the magazine, and collaborated on fundraising, budget, and management policy.

The Everardo Foundation was established by attorney and human rights advocate Jennifer Harbury to support human rights and community development among the populations most affected by the 36-year Guatemalan civil war. I increased revenue from donations and grants by over 140%, created the Foundation's first promotional materials, established a donor database, researched and wrote grant applications, and carried out direct mail and targeted fundraising appeals.

Coordinated advocacy and organizing work for national network of US activist groups working to promote human rights in Guatemala and reform US foreign policy. I also wrote for and edited the regular publication, organized the annual 50-city speaking tours of Guatemalan human rights advocates, wrote and coordinated all aspects of the direct mail campaigns, and co-led activist delegations to Guatemala.
